Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat

Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat have been covering contemporary culture and the spiritual renaissance for three decades. They are the authors of  Spiritual Literacy: Reading the Sacred in Everyday Life, a collection of more than 650 examples of spiritual perspectives on everyday experience, which is the basis of a 26-part DVD series. In that book, they introduced the Alphabet of Spiritual Literacy—37 spiritual practices that are common in the world’s religions. Their book Spiritual Rx: Prescriptions for a Meaningful Life recommends resources and exercises for exploring those practices.

The Brussats’ work is now consolidated on their website SpiritualityandPractice.com. Multifaith in coverage, it focuses on resources for people on spiritual journeys. Each year the Brussats identify spiritual themes in more than 300 books, 50 audios, and 300 films. The site also offers e-courses, online practice circles, teacher profiles, inspirational quotations, discussion guides, galleries, blogs, and articles on spiritual practices for everyday life. Frederic is a United Church of Christ clergyman with a journalism ministry, and Mary Ann is an interfaith minister.
