First Sunday After the Epiphany
Volume 46, No.1
Welcome
Epiphany!
How quickly we enter into the
season of Epiphany! Already it's January 7, the first Sunday of this season
that lasts eight weeks this year and takes us all the way to Lent. Epiphany
is the time of celebration of the revelation of Jesus as the Christ, the
Son of God. Looking ahead, all of the Sundays of this season recall revelatory
events in his life: the baptism of Jesus, his first miracle at the wedding
in Cana, the young Jesus teaching in the temple, announcing the fulfillment
of the scriptures, filling the fishermen's nets, proclaiming what we've
come to call the Beatitudes, teaching and culminating with God's great
announcement, "This is my Son, my Chosen..."
So let us
enter into this season attentive to the ways that the blessing and the
lordship of Christ are manifest to us. Let's recognize and acknowledge
his presence - as he gives us new hope, as he binds up our brokenness,
as he renews our courage and energy, as he forgives us, as he loves us
and fills us with life abundant.
Visitors,
new members and old, come travel through this Epiphany season with us!
Come and rediscover all that God is still actively doing - even for us,
even now.
